The Peaceful Warrior Martial
Arts Academy was developed as a joint project of the San Clemente Kiwanis
Club and St. Clement’s by-the-Sea. The Academy enhances the lives of youth
in the neighborhood by teaching the martial way – a way of non-violence and
peace. Students are taught to
integrate mind/body/spirit as they are taught to be warriors for peace – to
seek peace and reconciliation as a way of life. The Academy offers a full Tae
Kwon Do program, including the opportunity to obtain belt ranking from yellow
belt through black belt. The Academy is designed to give those students who
could not normally afford to learn a martial art through commercial studios a
chance to obtain the coveted “black belt”. Classes began in September
2005 under the direction of Master Earl Welliver, a Fifth Degree Black Belt.
