Outreach

And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you,

as you did it to one of the least of these

my brethren, you did it to me.'

--Matthew 25:40

Outreach ministries help support efforts of the Red Cross, Family Assistance Ministries, Mary Erickson Community Housing as well as other outreach ministries in the community. Below you will find some of the outreach ministries that St. Clement's by-the-Sea offers or supports. We often support other programs on a one-time or as-needed basis.

For more information, contact: Duke Welliver.

Angel Tree Program

St. Clement’s by-the-Sea works in concert with Las Palmas Elementary School or other groups within the community to provide gifts for children of low-income families.  Parishioners “pick” a snowflake from the tree giving pertinent information and they purchase an appropriate gift. The gifts are distributed during a Christmas Party in the parish hall.  Prior to working with Head Start, the parish initiated this program and operated it for many years.

Blood Drive

St. Clement’s by-the-Sea hosts the Red Cross blood drive several times each year.

Catholic Worker

Members of the Parish, especially the Youth Group and Men's Spirituality Group have gone up to help cook and feed the homeless at Catholic Worker in Santa Ana. The picture to the right is of an afternoon bar-b-que at Catholic Worker. We purchase the food for the breakfast, bring it, cook and serve it. The youth have a chance to talk and play with homeless children -- many their own age.

Family Assistance Ministries

Provides emergency services to people in San Clemente. Goods and monetary donations are always welcomed.

Peaceful Warrior Tae Kwon Do Academy

The Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts Academy has been developed as a joint project of the San Clemente Kiwanis Club and St. Clement’s by-the-Sea. The Academy will enhance the lives of youth in the neighborhood by teaching the martial way – a way of non-violence and peace.  Students will be taught to integrate mind/body/spirit as they are taught to be warriors for peace – to seek peace and reconciliation as a way of life. The Academy offers a full Tae Kwon Do program, including the opportunity to obtain belt ranking from yellow belt through black belt. The Academy is designed to give those students who could not normally afford to learn a martial art through commercial studios a chance to obtain the coveted “black belt”. Classes began in September 2005. You can see the Peaceful Warrior page by clicking on the Peaceful Warrior link to the left of this page.

UTO (United Thank Offering)

Once per year the women of the church collect coin boxes that have been fed as each parishioner is blessed.  All the money is used to build churches, purchase vans, and support programs for teenagers.  The National Committee meets to disseminate the funds that range from three to four million dollars.
