Pier Bowl condos?

The Planning Commission invites comment Wednesday on a plan for two three-story-high condominium buildings at the south end of the Pier Bowl.

Seven doctors are proposing a seven-unit condo known as Sea Cliff at 404 Pasadena Court.

The plan is to preserve a historic house on the site and build the condos in place of a terraced garden that dates back to 1930.

A Sept. 8 hearing drew 24 speakers, many of them concerned about the project's size. City staff says the project meets city codes but would impact historic resources. At the Sept. 8 hearing, commissioners delayed a vote and asked the doctors to consider redesigning the project to reduce impacts.

No changes are being proposed, Senior City Planner Jim Pechous says in a report to commissioners.

Wednesday's hearing is at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 100 Avenida Presidio.
